At the end of February, 2017, I returned from 3 weeks of snowboarding in the Europe Alps unable to bend down and tie my shoes. I was beyond sore!
I needed a way to heal. I looked into Yoga.
I quickly fell in love and found myself practicing daily!
I loved it so much, I made it my second activity for my Longest Day fundraiser for The Alzheimer's Association!
In 2017, with the help of my friend, Anna who was a Yoga teacher, I traveled to a number of different cities hosting donation yoga classes.
The opportunity came up for me to go into Yoga Teacher Training at a studio called The Sanctuary Yoga Room at home in Fort Worth. The training, led by our amazing teacher, Rebecca Butler, started in June 2017.
I initially went into Yoga Teacher Training not wanting to teach at all. It was a way for me to deepen my practice, study and understanding of Yoga. But, teaching was a requirement of Rebecca's throughout training. It was TEACHER training, after all. Pretty quickly, I found that I actually loved teaching.
In early December 2017, I completed The Dreamcatcher Yoga Teacher Training with 21 other incredible individuals. Now I am officially a 200 hour Yoga Alliance registered Yoga Teacher.
Yoga Teacher Training was physically demanding and mentally draining. Yet, also one of the most loving and fulfilling experiences of my life!!
I have since continued my education in Yoga studying under Rodney Yee and Colleen Saidman Yee and some of their students. I am also now a certified Level One Urban Zen Integrative Therapist. As well as a Level One Reiki practitioner. With plans to continue studying and expanding my knowledge of Yoga and other healing practices.
Spring 2017 when all the snow melted, I added Yoga as my second activity for The Longest Day.
With the help of my friend Anna, I was able to host a number of donation yoga classes as a part of my Longest Day.
After December 2017, I myself became a Yoga Teacher so I began teaching donation based classes along my travels for my Longest Day.
For 2019, since I am unable to travel as extensively, Yoga has become my primary activity for the Longest Day. Follow me on Facebook and Instagram for updates on fundraising events and donation classes.
